We were called to a newly constructed home that was unfortunately having serious water penetration issues. The owners had already wanted to upgrade the front bump-out siding. This give us the opportunity to remove the existing siding and truly uncover the water penetration issues. Due to improper and missing flashings, water was able to reach the sheathing and had no route to escape. This caused significant rot to both the sheathing and some framing members. Luckily, no major structural damage was done. First, we replace all the rotten lumber and sheathing. Second, we properly installed a moister barrier. Finally we installed a contemporary aluminum panel siding.
